Regular pumping is the simplest thing you can do to extend the life of your septic system. We pump the tank, inspect it while we are in there, and tell you what we find. Straightforward maintenance from a licensed team that works on the same systems they pump.
A septic tank does not pump itself. Solids settle to the bottom and accumulate over time. When the layer gets thick enough, the effluent quality degrades, solids pass through the outlet, and those solids begin clogging the drainfield soil. Once the drainfield is clogged, you are looking at a much more expensive problem than a routine pumping visit.
The standard advice is to pump every three to five years, but the right interval for your system depends on tank size and household size. A 1,000-gallon tank serving a family of four fills faster than the same tank serving one person. If you do not know when your system was last pumped, or if you have never had it pumped since moving in, a service visit is the right starting point.
We pump conventional tanks, aerobic system tanks, and holding tanks. Every service includes a visual inspection of the tank interior, the baffles, and the access conditions. If we notice something that warrants attention, we tell you before we leave, so you are not caught off guard later.
The cost of regular pumping is a small fraction of what a drainfield repair or replacement costs. Most drainfield failures are accelerated by years of infrequent pumping that allowed solids to pass into the field. Pumping on schedule is the most cost-effective thing you can do for the life of your system. See our drainfield repair page if you are already seeing symptoms.
